Always good to buy one or 2 5 gallon jugs to put aside for water stock.
You can rotate them as you buy them but they are pretty cheap, and great to have.
Does anyone else store these ?

We have 55 gallon barrels and some 275 gallon tanks along with 5 gallon jugs.
You can look here to see about getting 55 gallon ones for free if possible. www.shtfm.com/viewtopic.php?f=219&t=1101 Click Here For Google Search Of SHTFM.COM

Got several that are 'refreshed' every so often and are to be used for bug-outs.
When in doubt, apply rule ·223 or ·308 -- unless you have a more preferred calibre.

The 5 gallon type jugs are normally filled with a fairly close expiration dated item. So by design they tend to be manufactured rather thin. One of the recommended solutions, The larger capacity soda bottle. They are manufactured thicker to handle the pressures of the co2 content. Also store some in your freezer, if the power goes out you can keep your items cooler for a longer period, maybe just days but every day counts.

I like the idea of the the large torpedo style bottles in the freezer. Do these need to be rotated also? It would be great if they could serve as potable water after melting.

I keep my water supply in smaller containers that way if something happens to them I don't lose my whole supply of water. 5 gallon or 6 gallons from wall world would be the biggest I would have. Nothing against having huge water containers it is whatever you have time and room for really
