Used Deodorant Containers

Things you can make or do with recycled or materials easily obtained.
PostPosted: Wed Dec 23, 2009 1:29 am
For years I've used empty deodorant containers to make fairly waterproof/crushproof FAKs and mini PSKs for members of family. Bigger than the Altoids tin and holds much more too.
After they're empty, throw deodorant section away, peel labels off, wash them out with hot water, knock stem out and plug bottom hole with hot glue. I've used screwdriver to pry stem, sometimes breaks tabs, no biggie I've got some old plugs to stick in hole and cover with hot glue.
Depending on the size container, you can put in larger and more bandaids than Altoids tin. Plus cream tubes.
I use the Arm & Hammer ones because they're yellow and should stand out if dropped on ground. They come in two sizes.
Also have used large Old Spice ones too.
If lid doesn't fit tight enough, use duct tape to keep it on.

NOTE:
FAK = First Aid Kits
PSK = Pocket Survival Kits

When I used to sing with choirs or travel for work and stay in hotel/motels stay in Motels I would hide my extra cash in therm (from room maids) . Take a nearly used deodorant set and carefully screw the plunger dealy with what is left of the deodorant all the way out. Fold the bills in half long ways then roll the cash into a little tube and slip it over the twitsy screw part of the plunger and then just screw the plunger back into the set and most people would never know or touch someone else's used deodorant.
This is the way the world ends: Not with a bang but a whimper.
