Just picked up a 1990 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 with 170K on it for $800. I need about $200.00 in parts and a good all day Saturday and it will be the BOV.

03 ford f250 super duty extended cab 8ft box 4x4. Great truck, lots of room for the kids and gear, hook the camper on and go. Hopefully I won't have to bug out. kinda like where I'm at.

dodge 1500 4x4 or our Subaru outback. tanks are always at least half full on both. or for me alone, i got most stuff at BOL, so id take my Suzuki DR350 motorcycle with my standard BOB.

It was an old Parks and Recreation vehicle.. Plan to keep it looking that way

I have an 89...WHITE Ramcharger...former state vehicle....great, dependable gas guzzling monster... ;)

BUT...I am trading it to a local friend who is also into preparedness for his primary BOV and getting from him a 1992 Mazda 4x4 standard cab p/u. Ultimately this will become my youngest son's first vehicle...but will be a good BOV for him to drive as it is fairly capable and good on gas. (compared to the RC anyway... ;) )

We still have a full sized Bronco, a Jeep Cherokee, a Jeep CJ7 (with a Scrambler in the works) and a full sized Chevy p/u. We also have a 1990 Subaru 4x4 wagon that needs new head gaskets. So...we actually will have to CHOOSE which vehicle gets taken in a BO situation... :-|

In all reality...I am slowly working on dwindling the fleet down...and then adding some dual sport bikes to the mix.

My current plan is for us to retain the Bronco (inherited from my kids deceased birth mother), the Scrambler, the Subaru and the trucks. Then add one or two dual sports to the fleet.

My oldest son lives about a mile away (he's 18) and drives a Saturn...so if he BO with us...his car is great...as long as he has gas (limited income...so I think he buys it $10 at a time)...and we have roads....

So a BOV would not be a bicycle ( the VC moved tons and beat the World's strongest military largely by bike trans.) ? or a boat ?

I have a bike rack that stays on my jeep 24/7 and have mountain bikes for it, but it is not my first choice, but it is a choice.

well part of my plan is a on off road motercycel say just a head of the truck i will be able to spot problems and keep from getting stuck and in a bad place

A lot depends on the event... If the roads are o.k. I would use my car with my bike attached to its rack... If the vehicle broke down (or the roads were out of commission) I would the use my mountain bike and like back in the service, my legs while hoping for some luck.

My BOV is an 01 Chevy 2500 HD. It has the 8.1 engine locking rear axle 4X4 16,000 lbs. towing. The only thing I don't like is it gets about 7-10 mpg in the city. I'm going to get aux. tanks pretty soon to help out.

'97 Toyota p/u, 2" lift, mud tyres, looks beat up and old just the way I like it. Does attract a bit of attention though because of the lift and the big tyres , but only in towns.
