Thanks Guys, yes with the marshal law thing I have been stocking up on ammo and spending more time at the range. Also next year I am putting out an acre of something potatoes, corn, anything to use for trade or that I can sell.

The first photo is me shooting the 12 ga but its been heavily photoshopped using a variety of filters and the airbrush. The rest are pics at my fav firing range, its a fed site but for some reason I have only seen a ranger there one time in over ten years...heh..

That the 18" barrel on the AR?

PostPosted: Sun Oct 05, 2008 3:33 am
Its 17" brother. The upper is slightly modified 'dissipater' model. Thanks for asking and you have a sharp eye. Here in east Tennessee the brush is thick and we would rarely get a clear shot over 100 yards. Most would be 75 yards or less. Hence the mossy 12 ga and the short barrel rifle (and the slow moving but heavy .45)

I come real close to buying a AK, for the heavy bullet, but being a vet and therefore familiar with the .223 round and what it does I would rather have the small fast round and use the other weapons for close in work. I plan to experiment with sabots and slugs for shotguns soon. I wonder if a DU type sabot has been developed for a shotgun (substituting the DU for something else like phosphorus alloy )

Yeah I have a 16" upper on my M & P 15 and thought yours looks a bit different. Just got mine a couple of months ago and I love it so far.

We all love the MP, however Its a bit out of my price range! My 'self protection/survival kit is nearly complete, the .45, a .22, the bushmaster 223 two 12 ga and a .38 featherweight. Still, I would like a cheap full sized cartage firing rifle like a 30-30 or 30-06. I may buy one of the Mil surplus 8MM and do some minor work on it. They are beatiful and only cost from 89-150 bucks for good examples, including a cleaning kit and accessories! I may buy a case of them if funds permit, just for trading goods if things get really bad. How about posting some pics of your MP ?

Oops! I thought you were talking about the H & K MP5K PDW at a list price of $12,450! Hey you are an AR man thats even better! Its a lovely firearm in any case. How many rounds have you send down the tube?

I bought a .45 Springfield armory mil spec and the bushmaster the same day after selling some timber and resulting in a wad of cash that would choke a starving' Billy goat my pocket. I was into other hobbies (harley davidsons) before that and spent the bulk of my cash on the bikes. I had a glock 17, 9mm and a heavily modified SKS 7.62. For my weapons of choice, they were effective and fun, and very accurate. Anyway I sold the glock and SKS and bought the busmaster .223 and .45 in a fit of nostalgic frenzy in my remembering my airborne days in the 70's.

At first I didn't like the bushmaster, I couldn't hit anything with it and it would jam on occasion! Not good! I almost sold my bushmaster but decided to give it another chance and bought three hundred rounds of brass case .223 at wall mart for $90 (good price for a chain store!) and a magazine sock that tightened up the tolerances eliminating the 'clip wiggle'. To make a long story short I can now hit a spray can at 125 yards using the stock iron sights, two out of three shots and it hasn't jammed again ! The .45 was another disappointment as I was shooting off to the left at 25 yards two or three feet! One day at the range I told a .45 1911 lover type about how I couldn't hit anything and was reconsidering a glock, he handed me his modified (trigger, mainspring, grips, combat clip) Springfield 1911 and smiled. I pulled off a round first at 20 yds at a can I had set up and nailed it ! I couldn't put a round in a 12" target with mine at that range. So I shot at a can at 25 yards I had set up for my shotgun practice (slugs). I sent it flying with the second shot from this guys .45 Needless to say I am modifying my .45 as soon as funds allow!

Hey thanks for the photos, great minds think alike eh?
