Ok guys, I've read all the posts so far, and I think I'll go an alternative route of urban survival or rather the tools I would choose to have in an urban evasion/ evacuation. We'll assume (for the purpose of this particular discussion) that there was no HEMP attack, so I'll have my truck... ok Here goes nothing.
10, Leatherman 09, Pry bar/crowbar 08, Tow chain 07, Hatchet 06, NOAA Radio 05, Tarp and tent stakes 04, 550 Paracord, at least 50 ft 03, Steel toe boots/shoes (read that as a second pair of shoes/boots if you will) 02, Couple changes of clothes 01, Mag-lite Ok, some of you have to be thinking, wheres the water, food, and fire? I smoke, so the fire issue is resolved. Water can be salvaged, or gathered elsewhere. The same with food I suppose, but it's there at the BOL. The tools I chose would most suit the needs stated above. Mission: Get the Heck out of Dodge. |

My bug out bag weighs 70lbs. Plus my LBV with a full combat loadout, rifle and sidearm.
I have to agree that your BOB or field bag, which every member of my family has packed and ready to go, is very different from a survival kit. My survival kit I always have on me. Otherwise how do I know that I will have it when I need it? Paracord bracelet with steel shackle SOG EOD powerlock multitool Magnesium/steel firestriker Rat 3 SOG trident folder Gatorade beans or similar Citizen Skyhawk radio controlled watch Painkillers Ipod Motorola droid With those things I could spend a week out in the bush and find my way out. Che Sucks!
"I only regret that I have but one life to give for my country." ~ Nathan Hale ~ American soldier, just before his death at the British hangman's noose. I will always do my duty no matter what the price, I've counted up the cost, I know the sacrifice, And I don't want to die for you but if dying's asked of me, I will bear that cross with honor, because freedom isn't free. ~ American Soldier -Lo they do call to me. They bid me take my place among them, in the halls of Valhalla. Where the brave may live forever. We deal in lead friend. ~ Vin, "The Magnificent Seven" |
