So, I've been thinking recently about becoming a medical Marijuana caregiver to supliment my prep income "by approx. 30,000 a year"
I personally dont dont do it, but I really dont care, or see anything wrong with it.
I live in MI, so I can do it legally "within STATE law" but FED law is different.

Would, or do any of you do this?
Can you think of reasons not to?

Just wondering what my online prepper acquaintance's think about all of this? shrug

Try contacting these folks they can probably give you all the pros and cons.

Seems like it may open the door for some big time headaches, I don't smoke pot but I do know someone that grows here in MI, he told me anytime LE whats they can come in and look around. I'm not doing anything illegal but I'm still not up for signing something that lets someone come in my home anytime they like.

I can say as a caregiver in CO, that there are a number of reasons in the Pro column. But in the same breath there are prolly more than a few reasons not to. First of let me give a disclaimer. I don't know the laws in your state. But the way the law reads is that after 99 plants it becomes federal. So under that understanding i wont get close to 99 plants. I'm more than happy flexing my state restrictions to the fullest extent, but not so far as to bring undue attn. Next you need a client base, again i don't know the particulars of your state, as far as plant per person. But the average person here gets 6 plants and you can only bud half at a time. Another problem is the grey area as far as bud on had typically we can only have 2 ounces at any given time, but after you have harvested your first plant you'll understand that problem. So continuing on, after you have negotiated the legal portion and" I highly suggest that you know the rules you'll be playing by first" have a suitable location. That entails having a area that gets 12 on/off light during the bud cycle. The easiest way to regulate that is to get a timer. Growing plants is all about usable energy. They need the right spectrum to produce the results. Plants are just like dogs in that the more time and energy you put into them the happier you are gonna be with the results. It can be quite expensive to establish and grow a lucrative garden. But like anything once you get the basics, the rest just makes the job more enjoyable. If you have any specific questions please fell free to ask

Just the use of the word "Caregiver" tells me someones going to have a problem, sooner or later, but a problem they WILL have, and don't get me wrong I don't smoke it but I'm not total against it, I didn't say I ever did I just don't now, I did grow up in the 60s and 70s. :D

lol light.

tcsam, I know a person can pick and choose the patients. But have you had any problems with yours?
Im aware of the cost to operate "lets not go into HOW Im aware, haha" but I know it can be quite lucrative. I kept my profit margin quite low at 30,000 but it is on the "safe side"
Could you tell me "not to be blunt, or rude" about what your profit margin is?
Can the law just come in willy nilly as they please?
If you have a partner, was it hard convincing them?

My wife doesnt quite understand why weed is basically not that bad for you "although shes not totally against it" shes just on the fence.
But I do need to start to make more cash for preps/land/etc..etc..
Any suggestions on how to get her more on our level?
Any books reccomended? Sites, grow equip, etc..?

I've been weighing the pros/cons, and it seems like the pros are much greater.
Should you grow on the land your living at, or should you perhaps buy a small parcel and build a Greenhouse?

Jake
I have 2 partners, well most of the time. It costs us around 2k a month that includes 450 rent 600 elec and the rest is supplies, ie : dirt, clay balls, bags, NUTRIENTS, tying sticks and tape. We harvest prolly 3-4 lbs a month. Right now that works out for a pound each and 1 for the shop. We could increase production by atleast double but then we get into the problem of storing that much and it makes us nervous "I'm to pretty for jail". As far as the law is concerned they have no reason to come into our place. That being said I'm sure if the neighbors started complaining the cops would show up. might get a little hairy but our paperwork is in order so no worries. That brings up a good point. DON'T TELL ANYBODY WHERE YOUR GARDEN IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OR THAT YOUR A GROWER and that shouldn't be a problem. Equate to prepping if they know they will come and get it.
As far as the wife is concerned, there are ALOT of ways to take it - smoking bud and hash, butter, oil, tictures, teas
Books- http://www.amazon.com/Marijuana-Horticulture-Outdoor-Medical-Growers/dp/187882323X is a great place to start.
I would say if your not gonna be compliant dont do it on your dirt. Rent a place
As far as convincing the wife of the benefits grab a High Times they usually have a couple of feel good stories, i read that there is a guy in cananda making oil from pressing, who has cured cancer. Doesnt get better than that. Oh ya get her high then we will see what side of the fence she is on. :D

:D haha, well I wasnt meaning for us to smoke.....I just meant for her to be on the same side as a caregiver. I used to smoke ALOT a while back, and had to quit because Im a driver, and it kinda makes me too paranoid anymore.
But I do know its wonderful for others, and works great for them. I was meaning, to get my wife more on the lines of wanting to be caregivers to others "we just grow"
I would never grow now in days without being legal

Im sure if I got her high.......she'd be leaning against the fence....chillin eating munchies :pop:

Im gonna pick up that book right now, and check it out.

There is no doubt that there can be enough work for both of you. Perhaps you can use it for quality time. There is definately a slower more deliberate pace in the garden. If your both using it as a hobby/second income, then grow your normal veggies as well together. Practice and attn. to detail is the key.
