Remember you will not be able to outrun most gasoline HP vehicles with a diesel. So for your BOV, are you looking for power or speed, as always everything is a trade off.

Um idont know about that. I have owned some diesel trucks (Ford F250 twin turbo, Chevy 2500 ) and both was faster the most of my cars with small mods.

Right but that was obviously not the norm. And after shtf are ya gonna be able to get parts for the hopped up rig that will undoubtedly break/fail from extreme use

For those of you that do not know, heating oil is diesel. you just don't [ay a road tax on it. So if you have an old oil heating system on your property, but have upgraded to a different system, but still have the tank, fill it. "heating oil" runs cheaper than the road diesel. Don't forget to buy the stabilizers though.

Diesel, if you can get it for anything reasonable. Don't spend all of your prep money on one thing.

The deals are out there. Especially if you are willing to, well, look.

A few days ago I picked up a "new" truck. 11 2500 GMC for 18k. 23,000 miles, pristine condition. It was repoed and the bank, by law, can only sell repos for what was owed on them.

Now that is not by BOB, I never intended it to be. Its a work truck. And with a lifetime powertrain (among other things) It will last forever, or until the SHTF whichever comes first.

Yes it is not a truck but very practical. I have one - unobtrusive, great fuel economy.

Niether. Any four stroke engine will run on.......wood chips ! yes build a gasifier 2 cycle engines require heavy mods.
But you can run you car truck, lawn mower,tractor,4 weeler, generator on any thing that will burn.
Any time the Govt tells you they are doing something for your own good or protection........they're taking away your rights.
I'd rather keep my rights and take my chances.
