Someone passed this link along to me a couple days ago, so I am passing it on in hopes of getting more folks in shape. I know I could use the help!
crossfit.com
Apparently it's what the military is moving towards for their PT, and it's also what the cast of 300 used to get into shape, and those guys were ripped! It's a free site with a workout of the day, which is only supposed to be a few minutes but sounds rather hardcore. I'd love to hear what other folks have to say.

So what happened to the link?
When in doubt, apply rule ·223 or ·308 -- unless you have a more preferred calibre.

The military may use this system at many bases, but it will never be the core PT for deployed troops. Military approach, at least for the Marine Corps is that PT must be performable anytime & anywhere with no required equipment to maintain maximum physical readiness. That means nothing more than every single Marine should have with them at all times while deployed anywhere in the world. Said Marine and his Rifle. While they do keep looking for a wider variety of PT exercises, weights, medicine balls, tires, Ropes, and the like will not replace running, the daily 16, and rifle PT.

CrossFit is based around hard core calistenics and competitive style Olympic lifting, consisting of the overhead lift of the "Snatch" and the "Clean & Jerk".....
Tho will get you in very good shape the competitive lifts are very technical and prone to injury... I'd give the advice of being at least in intermediate to advanced training experience B/4 trying.... I used to be an Olympic lifter, and a coach for twenty some years and it took a toll on my body.....after twelve orthopaedic surgeries, I have to be NOW very careful with my one a week total body weight work outs and once a week Yoga...but it seems to work for me... |
