While we are a very open group, and don't want to stifle creativity, it is best if we have some guidelines to make the forum a welcome place.

Civility

Let's keep things civil. We want to further discussion and association, not stifle it. However, we want to keep things nice for all to read. We understand that profanity happens, especially in the heat of the moment. Let's not get too vulgar, though - remember, children could read this board, too.

No baiting or trolling. It wastes bandwidth, time, and detracts from the overall atmosphere of the board. Any posts which are deemed to be trolling or baiting, or detracting from the atmosphere of the thread or the board, may be edited or deleted without notice.

Keep posts on topic. It is within the realm of the original poster to determine whether the thread has strayed too far off topic.

Please try to keep posts between each other civil. If you disagree with a post, that's fine. It's your prerogative. When responding, however, attack the post, not the person. If you happen to disagree, please attempt to disagree with facts and while disagreeing be respectful of others and their views. Don't insult or degrade another person just because of their opinions.

Politics

A great issue which seems to create some dis-agreements. Please remain civil in regards to the members and their political views, use facts in rebuttals DO NOT ATTACK MEMBERS FOR THEIR VIEWS PERIOD

Religion/Race

These are hot-button topics, and ones which are very delicate. While we are not going to ban these topics completely, we don't want heated debates. Posts concerning the objective aspects of a particular religion, or political system, are acceptable. Posts such as: "Mormons believe that you should keep a three months' supply of food and water" or "Catholics believe that suicide is an automatic ticket to hell" are on topic. Posts such as: "Mormons are all too paranoid stocking up on tons of supplies" or "Catholics are stupid, telling me I can't take my life if I want" are not acceptable.

Likewise, race is a topic which is sensitive. We do not need bigotry rearing its ugly head here. Discussions of objective statistics, verifiable with data is fine. Any gender or race bashing will not be tolerated, as such neither will racial comments or slurs being supported within the community be accepted.

Illegal Acts

This is a forum discussing disaster preparedness and planning for the worst. The worst case scenario conceived is the collapse of the society as a whole, the government, and all laws of the land. When there are no more laws, then acts such as looting (only from abandoned areas) can be discussed in such a situtation - hypothetically. As of this moment, however, today's laws still apply. As such discussions regarding illegal acts, prompting other members to perform illegal acts, or bragging about illegal acts in a manner that shows you might support it, is not allowed. (Note: there is a drastic difference between "When I was younger, I got in trouble a lot, I used to break into houses" and "Man, I break into houses all the time, it's so easy, you won't ever get caught.") We want to keep this forum upstanding, and posts regarding illegal activites will be dealt with promptly.
