I've seen lots of folks try lots of astonishing things to get into trouble. But the all time worst is the Aspirin Dental Myth. The old wives tale is that if you have a tooth ache, you place an aspirin directly next to the tooth. Aspirin is an ACID!!! The horrible aspirin burns that I've seen are WAY worse than the tooth problems could ever be. I couldn't damage the gums, cheek, tongue that badly if I took my drill and mangled away. NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER put aspirin on any toothache or wound!
Ok, what's second? Opening a beer bottle with your teeth.... D@@@@@mmmmnnn! Split teeth hurt!!

These silly wives tales! Everyone knows that if you dampen a sprig of parsly with a young girl's tears and bury it in an orchard by the light of the new moon you can lessen tooth pain.
I betcha medical folks see a lot of weird stuff that people do thinking it's a 'cure'. -GrimOne-future -Fan Replacer post SHTF.

Not dental, but the first thing the the Amish use here for a stomach ache, is horse wormer paste. I suppose that it does have a diagnostic value

Always heard the aspirin myth but never and now never will try it. Thanks for that info.

Heck doc if you tell all the secrets you will loose clients, i mean who else is going to fix teeth from idiots like me that USED to open beer bottles with my teeth then put an aspirin on them when i hurt them

It is a really bad myth.
So everyone knows, CLOVE is the best for bad teeth. Not only is it a natural antiseptic, it produces a numbing effect. |

Clove oil is useful for tooth pain (it has probably been used for over 3,000 years), but benzocaine (Numzit, Anbesol, benzodent etc) is somewhat better. For most folks (including babies) the numbing effect lasts no more than 10 minutes at most.

Any time I've had a tooth ache, Jack Daniels did just fine, numbed it nicely. Hold it on the side of the mouth where the tooth is. The when it's nicely numb, you can spit it out or swallow, your preference. I usually used to spit it out, as I was just a kid then.
Otherwise I've also chomped down on a clove and it did the trick a time or two. Never heard of the aspirin one tho. Cloves, Oil of cloves, oragel, They work but takes a lot if you've got a long time before you can go see a dentist. FUCK YOU I WON'T DO WHAT YOU TELL ME!!
