Multi Vit. with minerals covers a lot of territory
Vit C
Fish oil
Vit. D (as D3) the 'sunshine vitamin' at least 4000 IU/day especially in the winter
Calcium/Magnesium/Zinc....aids in sleep taken at bedtime .. Most adults with sleep disorders are Magnesium deficient

What is the brand of multi-vit Doc., Herb. ? I know this is another whole science but don't know much about it. Have been using centrum silver for many years, is there a better one OTC ?

We have multi vitamins, fish oil and vitamin D. At our house we have a sensativity to B vitamins, but found that the "gummy" ones work very well and don't make us sick.
I have vitamin D, but don't take it daily. I make sure to spend aobut 20 minutes outside each day (usually more).

I get whatever brand that is cheaper, usually Nature Made or the store brand.

I read on several doctor sites, that you really shouldn't need a daily vitamin, once a week is sufficient.

HP, You should know by now that MDs don't don't know camel p!ss about nutrition. In order to be assured a perfectly balanced diet that provides every nutrient in proper amount, you would have to consume huge quantities of food with somewhere north of 6,500 calories per day. And that assumes perfectly prepared and preserved foods grown in perfectly balanced soils. Not only do I recommenced Daily vitamins, but when stressed, resisting, or suffering with illness, I recommend multivitamins morning and evening.

When you are under stress (physiological more so than emotional), your body depletes the water soluble vitamins and minerals that are in the front lines of resiting illness in a matter of hours (NOT A FRIGGIN' WEEK!)

The gummy vitamins are a great way to get them into your system, but they are usually a low dose designed for children. You will want to be a label reader to figure out how many to take (during the day) to get an adult dose.

Racerrick, the house brands of vitamins are usually made by the two best national brands, Centrum and Theragram. Be a label reader, and you can figure it out pretty quick. I take the Sams/Walmart house brand of Centrum.

thanks Doc for clearing that up. I get the adult formula gummies, because I did read the labels. :D
Seriously, my daughter and I throw up any of the others...so even if they weren't up to snuff, they'd still be better than what we had before.
I knew that stress depleted your body of nutrients, but I'd forgotten some of those details. :pop:
