But I have also read some rather alarming incidents of tendon rupture, I experienced Achilles tendon rupture in 2004 after using one ten day course of ciprofloxin, and eventually also ruptured right and left rotator tendons and had a few years of tendon problems as a result of using cipro. I will say this as an end note; I think some people can not tolerate floroquinolines for some unknown reason, and I think that children run the risk of damaging their soft cartilage after or during use of this drug.

A very worthwhile discussion, and your personal experience cannot be denied. I do still have several remaining thoughts:
1. The study you cited is from 1998 included two studies with a total of about 250 patients under 18.
2. The one I cited was compiled in 2008 and included several studies totaling several thousand children.
3. The study you cited was based on patients receiving IV Ciprofloaxin for 7 days; many of whom had cystic fibrosis.
4. The majority of all patients treated with Cipro receive it in oral (pill) form.
5. Although there some recorded cases of tendon rupture, damage or painful joints, the percentage of (cystic fibrosis) patients reporting painful joints with Cipro treatment seems to be in the same ballpark of CF patients with the same symptoms.

The risk/results value of Cipro seems acceptably low; however, your caution also seems valid and warranted.

So... have we concluded that "fish anti-biotics" are safe to use? Do we have info to back this up, like what fillers are used in them and such?

Skepsis, the fish (and other animal) antibiotics are made in the same pharmaceutical plants as those for human consumption, just relabeled for fish. Trust me on this...Same dose increments, same ingredients, same stuff...stock up per the info above....
The real tip off is the dosage...there's absolutely no reason to distribute fish antibiotics in human dosage if it were not actually designed for human treatment to begin with.

I have used them on myself, so far I am healthy and no gills... so seems to work. Thought better to try it now on myself, then wait til SHTF and no medical help around if it did not work right.

That is very good to know thank you. I honestly hadn't even heard about it until the new episode of doomsday preppers. My ears definitely perked when I heard it, and immediately got online to start looking into it, I was just having trouble finding any solid info about whether or not it was true. There seemed to be a lot of skepticism about whether or not the fillers were the same/safe for humans.
I'm definitely going to start stocking up though.

And wulfin, it's nice to hear from someone who has tried them, it was a good idea to test them out now for sure. And they worked for the reason you were taking them?

yes I have tried them for four things now, all of which I would have been given same thing by doctor, but used normal scripts for, mostly infections. I also was coming down with pnuemonia last winter and took them, they cured me right up and no unusual side effects I could tell. I do suggest if your going to be dosing yourself, get a PDR and a MERK manual and know what to give for what and how much. I picked up a PDR (Physicians desk reference at half price books for 3 bucks, which makes 3 I have at home). Alywas look to save money, but make sure it's money well spent on quality.

Awesome, thanks so much.
These will be great for bartering after SHTF as well.

I definitely like this idea better than going out to scavenge the pharmacy and not really knowing what/who you would find there.
