The same happened at the end of the american colonial house. Several of the people said how they wished they could stay. I found it interesting that it was mainly the men. Several of them went back to low paying dead end jobs and they said they liked that in the project they felt as if they were contributing something tangible. The main comment from the women was how they couldn't wait to take a long shower!

That's interesting isn't it?
Given the chance, I wonder how many people would rather a life with fewer modern-day trappings, more real freedom, and a feeling that their lives are meaningful. Last year one of my daughters and I went to a working heavy horse event - Belgians, Clydesdales, Percherons, etc. - held at a correctional centre, the grounds of which we camped upon overnight. The inmates of that establishment, who were able to mingle with the public during the show, were mostly small-time city crooks who had been given the option of learning about and working on the land. It was not surprising fo me to learn that, on release, most of them preferred to stay in the country and find jobs as farm workers. These men often discovered in themselves a sense of worth that thay had not felt before, and employers who gave them the opportunity to prove themselves were very rarely disappointed. Back on the subject of the "reality" show: During filming of one episode here it was discovered that one of the women had somehow managed to acquire some shampoo & conditioner. Naughty, but I bet she felt that the nice clean feeling was worth the lecture she got!

Few things give a person satisfaction with their lives or job, as working an honest job that you cna see the fruits of your labor, not just in cash, but in things accomplished and created, or so it has seemed in my life. Time for them to start singing out loud. May be out of tune, and off key, but it's their song and unless you learn to sing it out loud and free it will forever be buried and forgotten.
