I have avoided zombie movies for a very long time. I didn't like the spiritual/mystical aspect of them.

This movie, however, is kind of like a survivalist movie with the zombies thrown in for the enemy. Must like "survivors", the British series but way better.

The zombies are in there just to jazz it up. They could actually have made the series with any kind of nemesis. There is no real terror other than the actual physical danger the people are in. The zombies are purely just a biological threat. The fact that the disease simply refires the brain stem makes it easier to accept. They're not demon possessed or anything, they're just re-animated. ...and they're HUNGRY!

I heard about it and started watching the last season off of NetFlix. It captivated me so much because of the survivalist aspect that I watched the whole series (only 6 episodes) friday night. As a modern servivalist, you should be watching this. I keep wondering if this show is designed to wake up the sheople a little bit? They certainly aren't putting guns in a bad light. Very un-Hollywood like.

Daryl Dixon (the crossbow guy) said something like, "Guns are more valuable than gold. Can't protect your family and bring in food with gold."

Classic!

My wife doesn't appreciate Walking Dead or Breaking Bad. "Just soap operas", she disparagingly calls them. "What's your point?" is my reply, of course. I'm not surprised at her response-she doesn't like The Simpsons or Futurama, either. Great psychological studies and dynamics in WD. The "gang" taking care of the elderly was a bit of a surprise.

I don't quite understand why people are talking about Breaking Bad and Sons of Anarchy. They don't seem to have the slightest bit to do with survivalism or prepping.

Hey, just thought I would mention the other shows I was enjoying as well.. no harm.. and yes, there is aspects of survival in those shows as well. They show the interactions and dynamics involved in situations that are usually not found in every day life as well..
