If we EMP first, that would set off a whole lot of trouble for the world in general. It would be a fatal mistake. Russia is attached to Iran and regularly does trade with them. Russia's not going to be too happy about us tossing nukes about. It would be possible that they'd send some of their own out to us. How about Pakistan? They have nukes as well. So we EMP Iran, maybe Pakistan retaliates and hits Israel, maybe the US too. No, that is a road I really don't want to see us go down. Nukes, IMO, are last resort. There is no way possible to throw nukes about and not have it affect the world in a negative manner.

The good ole USofA has some of the greatest minds hired to work at various Well Funded Think Tanks. Their job is to develop and assemble thoughts and scenarios towards thwarting possible and future dangers.

My thoughts, be scared and look to those in charge to provide us the protection from these already thought out scenarios, though we might lose more freedoms we will be safer in the long run.

IMHO there isnt one dicktater, prime minister, presidenta or anyone else in any sort of power position, that would send a nukey flying in any direction! Plain and simple, it would definitly be TEOTWAWKI. About 3 minutes after the first launch, there would literally be hundreds of them crossing the globe. This country would do that one and that one would do this one and so on and so forth. If it was to be a nuke is some sort, it would be a back pack and then, the group resposible would think very hard about owning up to it because, they would know that what ever country they are associated with, would be toast!

I agree with Doc. The missle does not have to come from venezula or china. We know Iran has already been testing missles that would be used in a EMP attack. And logically its the only way to effectivly take the US out of commision. If they put a scud in a bucket like Oven stated above then we wouldn't have enough warning time to launch any missles. And anyways who would we launch against? Unless we know for sure who sent the missles no president is going to launch nuc's willy nilly because the fallout (no pun intended) from hitting the wrong country would be catastrophic. Think about this for a minute. NO PRESIDENT is going to launch nucs unless they have absolute proof who launched against us and you can bet that no regiem is so stupid as to declare themselves. So unless the country who EMP's us comes out and declares after the fact that it was them, or we pick up the evidence after, or they launch from a recognizable enemy ship or base who are we going to nuc?

So lets say that they do the scud in a bucket, get real close to our coasts and send up 3 to 4 nucs high altitude and detonate. Then lets say we have ten min before the power grid gets hit and all computers and electrical equip goes down. Even if we saw the ships on radar before the attack what record would we have after. And how would we get out to commendeer the ships for proof? It will be chaos after an emp.
