Hello, I am in Northern Virginia in Fairfax County.
I grew up in rural Delaware and Maryland, and spent most of my time outside shooting and fishing.
I am currently an Army Reservist.
I hope to gain more information about survival as a society and as an individual by becoming a member.
Not paranoid, as my wife suggests, but wary.

I live on Cape Cod in the People's Republic of Massachusetts. I just retired from WHOI, or the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. Folks might remember Bob Ballard finding the Titanic, well, Bob works for us and the Institution.
I am an immigrant from The Netherlands, a legal naturalized alien, notice the "legal" kind when immigration was still working, before Teddy Kennedy screwed it up.
I am a Korea and Vietnam Vet, but even so I am not allowed a firearm in my Town. It is up to the Town police chief whether or not you get your license, or FID card.
I believe with a 14T dollar debt @ 100%GDP, which is a debt super cycle and very dangerous this country along with others' globally is heading south and I am getting ready.
I am on this site because no one in my family, my in-laws, my neighbors, even my grown kids in CO do not believe me, even though I have practically proven it to them mathematically. This country that I love is coming down and no one believes me. My in-laws hardly will speak to me and try to stay away from me like a disease. I am trying to save their friggin lives, and they get angry. Go figure. My wife does not believe me either. So I am on my own doing things. A lot of times I have to sneak things into the garage, otherwise my wife will have a fit. It is getting so tiresome. It seems all is well as long as they can watch dancing with the stars and their 6 O'clock news with a story about Lyndsey Lohan being caught shoplifting. This made world news, can you imagine?
I dreadfully need someone in my area, even one person who believes what is about to happen. I am up to date on most everything and I need to be able to call someone in my area and start a group. Maybe someone who is a member here is near my Town and I need a lot of advise from you folks.
Anyway, that is me, it is good to be here and I will try to find my way around.

Hello. I am from the FL gulf coast. I am still on the gulf coast. I don't know what my intentions are beyond learning some skills and such. I have survived after hurricanes and what not, you know, no electricity etc... cooking outdoors and whatnot. I find peanut butter to be a great ally!
I crochet a bit.

Your self tooth extraction thing was interesting and frightening. I don't know if I could do that, even though I need one out now! LOL

I believe in preparedness. This winter my main breaker blew out and the landlord didn't fix it for 2 weeks. So I had a mini lesson. It was COLD! Even here!

So, with the gulf disaster poisoning us gulf coasters daily, and some of us wanting to toss the chemicals and go more natural, and with wanting to know basic survival skills, I thought this might be a good start!
