I have made a mullein cough medicine and canned it.
I did strain the mullein tea 3 times though to make certain the hairs were no longer in it. Added honey, and had cooked a vanilla bean and lemon mint in the mullein tea while brewing it. The cough syrup is yummy, just need to keep it refrigerated once opened. I also have made the elderberry elixir, just remember to add sugar to taste and there is no problem getting it down. |
I did not know about HP's remedy. I need to go in search of it. Never hurts to have more than one and see what works the best for you! Thanks! |

I was always told to use honey and rum or the strongest whiskey you could get and mix it up, as bad as I'm feeling now I'm willing to try it now

Back when I was much younger I was diagnosed with cancer of the larynx, I had lost my voice totally. The Dr told me that I had about 2 years left. After about 2 months of no voice and all the medicines the Dr. could give me, he suggested that I should go the chemo route. I have never been a big fan of chemo so I passed on it and passed on all medicines and decided I was just going to take my chances. Here it is 20 years later and I'm still here. I decided to go the natural route with it and brewed up a large glass of blackberry leaves and sipped it for the better part of the night. The next morning I had my voice back so I kept up with the blackberry leaf tea, I credit that with the fact that I am still here. When my sinuses bother me I use saline solution and ice packs. For colds and coughs I drink hot ginger root tea with lemon and honey and instead of drinking cokes or anything like that I drink ginger ale. For things like hayfever I take a big spoonful of local honey.
