NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Wal-Mart said Thursday that it is bringing guns back to many of its U.S. stores in an effort to lift slumping sales.

In 2006, Wal-Mart (WMT, Fortune 500), the world's largest retailer stopped selling guns in the majority of its stores, blaming slow demand for those types of firearms.

Or if they found a way to supply AR rifles for <800 I bet they'd see a decent jump in sales :D Carrying handguns would help too...maybe keltec or something that is decent quality at a lower price.

(Like how they said "these types of firearms" meaning .22's, single shots, and low end bolts and pumps lol)

Well, it's good to see that their removal of guns in the first place was influenced by sales figures, rather than any push by the Brady Bunch.
When in doubt, apply rule ·223 or ·308 -- unless you have a more preferred calibre.

They had a business manager (big wig) they brought in from Target.... (my thinking he was a bit on the yuppy liberal side) he made a LOT of changes in WaMart, making it look more like Target, more upscale, less products, higher prices and less hunting and fishing stuff. They took a good long look at where they were heading and how these changes had affected sales. He's gone now. :D

Some walmarts never stopped selling guns. None of the ones in my are do but. The one near my home where I grew up in Tn has always sold guns and carries a large hunting section. Unlike the one near me that has half an isle for hunting clothing and ammo. I'm glad to see them putting guns back into stores. I doubt they will be selling the 50cal though. Mostly low end shotguns and ok rifles in store. Unless you order online to get better guns your better off going to basspro Cabelas or a local gun shop. You will most likely pay more than walmart but as we all know you get what you pay for. Walmart does carry some mossberg pump shotguns that are decent enough and cheap. And Mossberg makes s decent gun.

I am just glad that they are getting Ammo back into the stores and not having restrictions of how many boxes you can pick up at one time.

Layaway is coming back which is a good thing too.

Something major happens any place that has cheap guns will sell out quickly!!!
