In addition to our canned beans (chosen for their long shelf life) and our dry beans (only last about 2 years or so), we also have some bags of powdered refried beans, selected for their portability. We got them at a local resturant-supply house that also sells retail. They are in a plastic bag, and make approximately one gallon of refried beans. The brand we found is Casa Solana, and they are excellent. There are other brands, but I have not tried them. Here is a link to Casa Solana beans.

That reminds me , I need to buy 100 pounds of beans at middle of month and 100 pounds of rice, just in case.
