NO it was not my OS it was my idiotic self trying new stuff, (note to self use old laptop when playing)
OK so i had the older Firefox version 3.4 (loved it) and had to goto 3.6 cause i was to lazy to look for the older version again, well any way if you are in linux under your home directory you will or should see .mozilla folder and YES there is a period infront once in that folder you will see firefox then in firefox you will see some weird letters and numbers and .default that folder has everything you need for backing up your Firefox stuf.
SO to recap .mozilla>firefox>6fahsd7.default
6fahsd7.default <---- MAY NOT BE THE NAME OF YOUR FOLDER make sure you see the (your wierd profile numbers/letters here).default
Steps to move things over.
1. COPY YOUR NEW default folder in case sh!t do not work after .
2. rename ORIGINAL new install profile to something like (your weird profile numbers/letters here).default--OLD
3.OPEN old profile folder you have backed up some where and copy everything inside the (your weird profile numbers/letters here).default folder
4. OPEN your new install profile folder (your weird profile numbers/letters here).default and paste everything you just copied from the old one / it will promt you to replace or keep , OBVIOUSLY you want to replace it.
I know i can not explain to well cause it is 3 am and i am going to work in 3 hours and need sleep
so try this link if you need a better example. http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing up your information
