I haven't read anything here today about the death of Steve Jobs and just wanted to add my $.02. This will show my age but the first computer i ever used was an Apple 2E in 8th grade It changed my life and I didn't know it at the time. It took me 20 yrs to realize that as a 14 yr old kid Steve Jobs set the path for my life with that little PC in our school library. In the years Since that realization I have been more and more thankful for having real teachers who would break the rules to help a kid as mine did in letting me sneak after school time on the apple. Thanks to my school librarian and innovative people like Steve Jobs I have enjoyed 20+yrs of working in I.T.

When I was in 8th grade they didn't have computers.
Can't see vary good, hearing is bad, computer skills suck and, my grammer and spelling are piss poor, I guess I'm just screwed.

My first computer ran off of casette tapes...the Apple IIe came during high school for me.
Met Bill Gates and Paul Allen when they had the Microsoft Company party in the back yard of my girlfriend's father. I actually got to meet them.They talked to me about computers. (They talked to everyone about computers!) I kept thinking they were nerds and why would anyone buy computer programs when they were so easy to steal? Also the name of the company, 'micro-soft', like limp and tiny, I told my girlfriend, "Now there's a dynamic name for a company." I snickered. Her father tried to set me up not only for an interview but also talked to me about investing before they went public. I went into the Marines instead. I showed them all, huh?

You mean the Bill Gates and Paul Allen who ripped off Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak's graphical interface, and called it "Windows" ? They should still be in prison for that little trick... just my opinion...  Do NOT follow this link or you will be banned from the site!. |

when i went to school my first 4 years of H.s. they had computers that had ms-dos on it. you had to type everything out in coding.

Sorry War Tide. The graphical interface came from the Xerox SPARC project and was in the public domain. Both Steve Jobs and Bill Gates used the same public domain code as the core of their respective interfaces. And it was Steve Jobs who sued Microsoft to keep the company from developing anything "graphical".
