I don't get attached to people, never have so it's no big deal to me regardless of who they are. Now animals on the other hand, I'd do more to help a rabid pit pull than a person.

I live in the UK so there's a lot of people and not that much space to bug out to, I'd probably plan to get everyone to my parents house, I'd bring all the supplies I have, and my parents always have a lot of canned food/bottled drinks and water etc as they shop in bulk from Costco.
It's in a residential area on the edge of countryside, I can get there 4 different ways, I think I'd plan to get into Wales in the mountains or something as it's not that far 50-60 miles, so we would be away from any rioting etc,I have a landrover which is an ideal vehicle for that. If we got trapped at my parents there is a secret path into the woods at the bottom of the road which I know well which leads to the river, which of followed would lead us into the countryside, so that would be an emergency escape route, in the UK there aren't many people with guns, and I'd make sure everyone with me had at least a crossbow/slingshot/petrol bomb/thermite etc that could be used to protect against attack by a mob, and just hope we don't run into looters with guns, I'm not currently in a position to apply for a licence. |

I come from a big family and nobody preps but me. There is no way I could support my brothers, sisters and their families. Hard times would call for hard decisions and I would have to take care of my own family first. In my preps I have small packages of items like beans, rice, sugar, salt, etc. that I plan to use for barter, if needed. I may give those out to family but not at a risk to my family. Right now I’m keeping my preps and plans to myself. I have a ring system for when it comes to assistance priorities. Picture a target. My immediate family is the center. Family is the next ring followed by close friends, distant friends, people I know and so on as the rings expand. Hopefully in the near future my brothers and sisters will open their eyes and plan ahead.

I have come to the realization that most of my family will probably not make it through a bad SHTF scenario. My parents and siblings all live in New Hampshire where I grew up and I live in Utah. This makes retrieving anyone an impossibility. The best I can do is encourage them to prep (which they wont do) and hope for the best. My in laws, who live 5-mins away, have food storage for about 9 months but thats about it. My brother in law said he would not need food storage because all the mormons out here have storage rooms full of food (some up to 2 yrs worth) and he and his friends can simply take what they want by force. That is why a good defense strategy is also key. I reminded my brother in law that if he attempted to steal from my family, the only thing he'd leave with is 8 or so 00 buck pellets. This might sound harsh, but I have a wife and (soon to be) 3 kids to provide for. I can't be supporting every grasshopper that failed to prepare.
There are three kinds of men: The ones that learn by reading. The few who learn by observation. The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence.

My father is the one who got me into prepping. He told me when SHTF I had better get my butt to the house any way I can.

When I began to advise my family to prep I was told "You are scaring the kids so ShutUp and Get The Hell Out!" they then refused me ANY access to my nieces and nephews.
This may seem cruel, petulant even but they can fend for themselves Whenever any government becomes oppressive it is not only the right but the duty of the citizenry to revolt. Thomas Jefferson

After the mild to major rebukes by most of my family, I can only say as I have to them "If you are determined to handcuff yourself in a burning house and throw away the key, do NOT expect me to sit there and hold your hand as the structure burns to the ground"!
I love ya, but "adios". Bob "1984" was NOT intended to be an instruction manual!
