i have a built tranny to go behind the big block, the rear suspension is already beefed up along with the rear end, the trailer would only be if i had to bug out, otherwise it would be a scrounge truck where the armor would be of more use, and the speed and hauling ability would help too, i have a couple one ton truck around but they are slow and clumsy. as far as scrounging goes, i a;lready have a set of stake sides to slide into the box sides to increase height and i have plenty of straps and cargo tie downs, and that truck will hold quite a bit of fuel (when it can be found in a shtf situation) 76 gallons total. the only way i would leave the land is if i could not defend my location properly

tech wrote:I hate to rain on your parade, but you have some serious issues to deal with. 24K and half-ton pickup do not go together...and come to think of it, neither do a small block tranny and a big block engine. Add snow or ice to the mix and you need to stay home.

You are going to be much further ahead to either get a 1 ton (since you want to put over 3000 pounds of armor on it) or preposition the trailer...or keep it stock and keep the weight reasonable.

Save you some time...hook it up to the rig in the background :) But neither is going to "pop through" a military roadblock.

You know that old saying " If there's a will there's a way " I was thinking the same thing as soon as I seen the pic, but when I read he already had the rear end beef up, and the rig parked next to it, combined with his pic, I thought he knows, at $400 for the trailer great deal.
Can't see vary good, hearing is bad, computer skills suck and, my grammer and spelling are piss poor, I guess I'm just screwed.

Must be old pics...I still see a half-ton rear end under a half-ton frame...oh well.... shrug

Good luck!

yueah they are old pics, i had the stock rear end other than some airshocks at that point, that was out in montana, i pulled that camper through the mountains/ hills with that half ton pickup with a SBC 305, it was not real fun but wasnt too bad. i strongly believe in the if theres a will theres a way philosophy and i do have a 0ne ton rear end under there right now, looks goofy but i am running it with single tires in the rear for right now, i have been unemployed for awhile and need to get some money together to get new tires, trying to decide what the best tires would be for strength, any suggestions?
