yet another BOV ides

SHTF vehicle or vehicles you will use in a Disaster

PostPosted: Sun Jan 29, 2012 10:20 pm
I have been looking for one of these for a bit but have not picked one up yet. I think it would be a great bug out vehicle for many reasons. Obviously, it would be for a different prepper than some. It would best fit someone who had another bug out area and they just needed to get to it with what they have on their back and maybe on a rear rack. It could also be used to get to other preppers that live near to you.
1.) It would not be rendered useless by an EMP
2.) It would get great gas mileage and would make best use of any fuel stored. (estimates upward of 100 mpg)
3.) Is very quiet
4.) It has lights and everything you would need on a road but also is very capable in the woods or on trails.
5.) Being a Honda it is very reliable.

A little bit about these neat little bikes: They have a four speed gear box with an automatic clutch so they are simple to ride even if you have little experience. They were used alot by hunters before 4 wheelers because popular. It is a 90cc bike so it wont be terribly fast but would make up for it with its usefullness. It has a built in tool box behind the seat. Right now you can get any parts you may need for it. It is air cooled any very light weight so it will also be easier to work on if any problems do come up. You can pick one up for around 800 dollars right now. They have been going up lately.

Too small for me. I like the ROKON/Tote Goats.

Tried to get a pic over here, but too stoopid...

Go to the www.rokon.com Site and look at accessories! Generator!

So, for $6000, ya get a 2X2 Cycle that can transport it's own 2 KW Generator, deep into the Woods/Wherever, along with the Fuel stores to power it!!! Also available: Pumps, Plows, etc... It can be converted to a Stationary Power Plant, so you could run a Sawmill, etc...

would be a great thing for the reasons you gave but I would like to have something to haul a fair amount of gear and also it leaves you pretty vulnerable to attacks
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen."

I think maybe it seems more ideal for me than other because I own land that touches my parents land and their land touches my uncles land. It also is much cheaper than alternatives which is a must for me. I cant even afford it really.

I have a 1969 Honda CD175 that gives me a sense of security for a lot of the reasons you mentioned. But I have had this bike for years and don't think that I would buy it for just the reasons you mentioned. I think that I would spend my $$ on other prep items before I would buy something so specific as the 90cc Honda (even though I have ALWAYS wanted one of those since I was 10). IMHO.
