The Survival Knife:
I use cheap filleting knives for this, for about 20 dollars Canadian you can make this with no problems.
Step 1: is to assemble everything you are putting onto the knife. This includes the following:
-knife and sheathing
-2ft. of brass snare wire
-several meters of a decent test fishing line (heavier test line can also be used to make shelters etc.)
-4-6 hooks of varying size and style
-2-4 sinkers
-a condom (holds 1 litre of water)
-high vis. Duct tape.
Step 2: Now that we have assembled the ingredients, its time to start laying it all out, take the sheathing of the knife and start wrapping the fishing line where you see fit. in order to avoid taping the line down, use the stiffer snare wire to wrap down the loose end of the fishing line. You should now have a sheath with line and snare wire wrapped around it. Remember to keep it as flat as possible, to keep it sleek, and sexy.
Step 3: Now that the line is out of the way its time to lay our your fishing gear. Take a piece of tape, enough for about two full revolutions around the sheathing. Line up the hooks and sinkers so that they are going the same direction as the sheathing, not laying cross ways on the sheathing.
Step 4: This is something I found out through trial and error. Make sure, you put the condom on the opposite side of the hooks on your sheath, when this is all plotted on your bit of tape, tape it around the fishing line and snare, making sure the sharp ends of the snare are away from your condom.
step 5: take 1-3 meters (3-9 feet for my 'merican brothers) and wrap it evenly underneath your fishing kit wrap. This tape can be a god send. And there you have it, a 20 dollar life saver.
OPTIONAL STEP: I have on one of my knives, a mag and flint bar taped under the last 2 layers of my "emergency tape", this adds almost no weight, and little bulk, and its a good idea to have.
Keep in mind this knife is not great if used for hard objects etc. Feel free to switch it out for a knife of your choosing, I use them because they are cheap, if you need to catch fish, cleaning with a regular knife usually sucks, I usually have another knife on me at all times, and the sheath has room for everything!

Now as for an adaptation, I also have a version of this on my duty belt, as well as my every day wear belt. and it goes as follows, it is very similar. For anyone that takes this stuff seriously (lets be serious, we all do, or we wouldn't be here) This is an awesome "EDC" item that weighs practically nothing.
Step 1: take your fishing line, and wrap it around your belt. (watch for tangles!!) Then use the snare again to keep the fishing line from unravelling.
Step 2: take a 6 inch piece of tape and line all your hooks, sinkers, porno, and condom up on the stick side. all pointing north-south. Then run the tape along the back side of t he belt on the outward side of the belt. *make sure you watch for pokey things that will compromise your condom!*
Step 3: Take your roll of tape and tape a spiral of about 1 meter (3 feet) of tape all along the 6 inch piece. and TA-DA! insa-kit on your belt, and it weighs eff all!
This is a very adaptable thing to make, able to be taped to anything, hell if you know where your bug out area is going to be, go tape one to a tree, tape one to your back pack, tape one to your car, I'm sure you see my point! this costs practially nothing to make, and can save your life, or at least make it easier. Also I am sure you guys can think of more items to throw in there, like a folded piece of tin foil for cooking, signalling, etc.

Hope this helps someone out!
