That was a well thought out article. i think there is more that could be added, but that's a fine start.
What people don't understand, at least at first, is that in an extreem shtf situation, things won't be going back to the way they were...not in your life time probably.
Lumpy has done some excellent talks on the radio about mental preps, and this is something we all have to work on. IF something like, lets say, an EMP happens, our lives will revolve around two things for several years; protection and work.
We will be literal slaves to our food production, every day living and our protection/safety. Attitude will be everything and the quicker people adjust, the better it will be. It won't matter if you made $250k or even a million, all thatwill be important is how much you are willing to pitch in and work.

Excellent article and thoughtful. Too often I hear people I will bug out to the country, and you know the people have no idea what that really means in long term SHTF scenario.

Thank you for posting the link. :gs:

Great find, Phaydra, and a good site to promote. Thanks.
When in doubt, apply rule ·223 or ·308 -- unless you have a more preferred calibre.

Well written article. I have a BOL and regularly have people saying that if the SHTF they will be coming to stay with me. So I generally invite them to come hang out with me for a week and enjoy country life. Most of the them do not fare very well but the ones that do, end up with a permanent welcome mat laid out for them. During their trial week I always have a project for us to do that gets me closer to my goals and gives me the ability to see how they work in teams. For the ones that don't work out they usually figure out that heading out to the country when things go bad is not as great as they imagined...

Don't come unannounced is the biggy for me! We live in the country and people coming from the city had better know somebody in the area if they plan on making too many more steps.
