Talk about your survival kit, packs, bag or how to make one.

The Bug out Booklet.
I started out with a simple page of instructions for my family members to follow incase the SHTF and I was not around to help them. Now 3 months later my B.O.B. has a small but rapidly growing book inside of it I call when the SHTF Guide's to everything! I started out adding pages of simple instructions.
Try starting out like this:

SHTF - What to do FIRST. where to go, what not to do, where the stashes are, where extra cash is.
Next add a list of the most important things to grab FIRST. B.O.B. ect. List the things they will need most for the first couple days while they are on the move or getting settled in somewhere. Guns/ammo, water, food, lighter/matches/flint, KNIFE, ect ect you all know.
Explain to them in steps How to do it all. Some people don't think clearly. Dont go into TO MUCH DETAIL. List quickly and clearly the important stuff.
After that When they reach the safe place lay out a list of rule that SHOULD be followed in diferent senario's.
Rule #1 Stay together, don't try to travel unless your FORCED to bug out. It's easier to stay hidden than it is to hide once your spotted.
Rule #2 Dont work, dont eat. Food might be short and if everyone plays a part you can get more quickly.
ECT ECT ECT
You know the basics but our non prepper friends/family don't. Teach them in first couple pages basic principles. After that Place 2 pages for "Chapters" List what is in each chapter, and number the pages as you go along with a pen. Print out information on the most important things first, I personally did Wilderness survival as the very first topic. I covered making traps, spears, bows, pitfalls, hunting, fishing, getting water, and making random items work for you in a pinch. Like steel wool and a 9V battery, makign fire with NOTHING at all but a knife. shelters, water, water, water, (lol)water, first aid(very basic) ect ect ect ect
Then get more complex, Add gardening/composting/mulching info. Harvesting, preparing, storing, and preserving foods.
Then even deeper, building more permanent housing wood stoves, with basic tools if needed, log cabin u might call it, then making a well (dug well, and a pipe and pump well) then I go on to add recepies, and my favorite, the US constitution and the amendments and even the declaration of independence, i love those 3 documents, I took an oath to defend it and i'll defend it by at least knowing it and teaching others about it if nothing else.
You can add anything important you think should be in it but just remember, make it easy to follow, keep everything in chapters and keep it simple. Detailing how to rebuild an engine might not be the first thing you should put into this book. =P
Best of Luck everyone! Hopefully you won't need this book, nor will your families but if SHTF you'll be glad you printed out all the info you did before everything shut down. Trust me.
Cheers!

Thats the exact reason I made my booklet. I assume that when ur under alot of stress u won't remember everything. So I made the book, for myself as well as for others. =D
Someone once said we make the laws on what to do in case of an emergency so people can't/don't make bad laws during emergency situations when everyone is weak and open to the ideas.
I don't know who said it, and i'm sure thats not exact but it's a great concept. Make the law now while everyone is levelheaded.

Do you have a table of contents that you could share? I have only been prepping for about a year or so I have gig's on PDF's and manuals downloaded and have slowly been trying to sort threw it all and organize it in some fashion.
I do have a 2 1/2" binder for grab-n go but it is not organized.

Thanks

I agree with Wulfin, a great post. I have two questions.

One, you have this "book" available that lists how to handle many things in a fan event, but also where your stashes and extra cash are. Is it secure in a manner that a common thief on a break and enter situaton wont find it but your family can?

Two, and for all of you to reply to. What the heck do you do with the ones that dismiss you and your preps? I'm talking kids and other very close loved ones who just refuse to believe that our country can go there.

Actally no I keep this book in my bug out bag. I keep the info on the last lage of the book and dont say that its there in the table of contents, however the people who would need this book other than me have already been told about the last page. They don't know that it tells about stashes and extra money they just know when SHTF to look at the last page. I am hoping I will get to my stashes before a crook even finds out about the last page in this book if I had a breakin. ALTHOUGH, if someone broke in here they would be dead because there is never a single moment where SOMEONE is not in this house and there are guns everywhere loaded and ready to rock. >=)

To the contents post: Let me go get my book and i'll post those asap.
Thanks

My personal book contains this:
First Page - EMERGENCY PLANS (here I tell what to do, where to go, evaluate how long the event could last then make plans to hold out until its over, rather it be 3 days or 3 years.

2nd Page SHTF LIST - The top 20 things that are in the house that you would need to grab before you bug out.
I say top10 things, then if you have time 10 more items and a few extras if time is not important at all

3rd page - Questions to ask yourself (survival for Short term, survival for long term? Make a plan)

4th Page -Table of contents:
Ch. 1 Water Procurment/Devises
Ch. 2 Wilderness Survival - A - Shelters
B - Traps and Lure Techniques
C - Fire Making
D - hunting/fishing techniques
D - First Aid (Basics, bug bites/stings small cuts and scrapes)
Ch. 3 First Aid - (Burns, Cuts, broken bones, pulled muscles, twisted ankles, pulled tendons and more)
Ch. 4 Human Anatomy (Goes with first aid you can check this chapter to see where major arteries, veins, nerves and more are)
Ch. 5 Helpful Tips (Surviving people, extreme weather, and random situations you could encounter)
Ch. 6 Gardening/Farming - A - Planting fruits/veggies B - Animals and their uses C - Protecting your crop
Ch. 7 Food Preservation/Canning
Ch. 8 Edible and Poidonous Plants
Ch. 9 Recipes / Food Prep.
Ch. 10 Useful or helpful skills to know or learn
Summary - One last page to tell people what they really need to think about if they are stuck in a survival situation especially long term. Books they should grab if they come across them ect.

The very last page of my book has a list of stashes, and etra money thats hidden inside the house and on the farm when they arrive. I tell everyone in my house to check out the last page of the book if sh!t hits the fan, I pound that into their heads enough they won't forget.

Also Randomly in the middle of my book I added the constitution, bill of rights, and the Declaration of Independence because I think these are very important documents. I just printed them up and shoved them inside the book.

Also I made my book by simply taking a folder and a bunch of paper 3 hole punching them and putting them together. I then Put Duct tape around the outside to strengthen the cover and then used paper clips unfolder and pushed thru then tied them together to hold it all together =P

Hope this helps!

Don't forget you can make this book anyway you want, you can take out chapters and add chapters that you feel are important to you. I personally think the 10 chapters in the book are must know stuff and once in awhile I'll add extra stuff into it thats not in the chapters all in the back.

I need to sort those into it sometime soon =P
Anyways, good Luck!
