I always carry an empty canteen & canteen cup in my trunk. I'm betting that a canteen cup might fit or at least be near by.

Good addition! In the warmer weather, I usually have a 24 pack of bottled water in a cooler in my truck, but that's outside the scope of this thread :P

This is a great kit idea, but I see some potential issues.

I purchased a 9 can soft sided cooler with a hard liner. ($9.98) Igloo brand.
Bought the potatoes (2 @ $.87 ea.)
Bought the 2 cans of Spam (one regular, one bacon, @ $2.48 ea.) Check the expiration dates. The store brand stuff expires in 2013, but the Spam expires 2015.
Also bought a jar of Wyler's Beef Bouillon cubes (1 @ $1.96)

After tax (TX) $19.46.....so, Here's what I think I'll do...They have the Spam in single serve foil pouches, 5-6 should do it, and takes up less space. The beef cubes will get sealed in a ziplock bag, but I'll just pack half the jar. The majority of the rest of the food items will all be in the foil packs or pouches if I can help it.

I can pick up a smaller cooler for $5, that I will use to store the FAK and the personal toiletries. I'll put a flat of water in the trunk as well.

I guarantee this will run in the $50 range. Well worth it.
Give me a stick of gum, a paper clip, and some string...I'll fix it

I bought my food for my BOBs at the Dollar Tree store. Same for nylon rope, lighters, and basically all the little stuff that goes in there. I don't need to pay top prices for stuff to make me feel better about my preps.
To Paraphrase Dr. King:

"I have a dream that all men will one day be judged not by the size of their bank account or for their legal business affiliations, but by the content of their character".
.
Lord, help me to quit worrying about,
HALF-full or HALF-empty,
and make me thankful, for the glass!
