Was kind of surprized they mentioned a firearm and ammo.
All in all , good basic list for John Q. Citizen....
If John Q. would read it and follow the plan....

The links at that site are also interesting and useful. Thanks for posting it MM2.

Crowbar? I never thought of a crowbar. My wife and I decided I will put a "Wonderbar" in each bag.

Wikipedia is such a liberal site, that I am shocked.

i will mention that trying to carry enough water for 3 days is foolish. better to have the water purification tabs they mention as well as a filter and simply plan to resupply along the way. at 8 lbs per gallon, 24 lbs of water alone is going to max out most people.

also consider that there's a difference between a 72 hr kit and a bug out bag as a bug out may take a good deal more than just three days. having the food and supplies to make it a week at least would be smart imho.

Good site! Thanks.
This is some good info to most everybody, and it's too bad that J.Q. Citizen probably won't bothereven considering looking this up.

Just blame it on G.W.B and wait for FEMA to save them and give them money.
Of course it be better after today, Right?"
My basic tool rules:
Deploy your assets, if you spread them out no one know how many you really have............................
Redundant calibers are just another asset...........
Have passed, "need", along time ago.........
Invest in airplanes and firearms, never women or cars.......
Precious metals..........Brass and lead......
The more you know, the less you have to carry.......

"Of course it'll be better after today, Right?"

(Snort.) Oh yeh, infinitely and instantly better.

How long till the current euphoria wears off?

As advised by Lefty on another thread: Hope for the best and prepare for the worst, though I might change it slightly to say work for the best.
If everybody did that, the worst might not be as bad, but there are too many people who have lost the work ethic required to accomplish a fast turnabout.

The thing I'd like to do is go to our local American Legion Post and buy the house a round. Say a toast to our new president and ask for God to give him the strength and knowledge to bring our country back to it's place in the world.
But thats not going to happen. The last time I mentioned the economy , I was told " Dennis I thought you were smarter than that, Bill Clinton planned all this when he was still in office" . I saw a bunch of heads nodding in agreement.
If I was to raise a pint for a toast I hear " He's not my president ".
Goes to prove you can't fix this country overnight.....

Reminds me of my drill Sargent in boot camp, Jim Duffy, his favorite saying was , " your problem is obvious, you've got your head up your ass".
**** Sorry postedthis on wrong thread *******

Dennis,

I understand, but just toast America, the greatest country on earth. I was in the airport the other week and bought a round for a group of GI's and made the toast "God bless America, and those that serve her", And everybody in the place stood and cheered. The current pres is lvoed by 51% and feared by 49% emotions are strong, remember the left would not drink to GW either.

The reason this country works is we all serve the country not the man

"The reason this country works is we all serve the country, not the man."

Absolutely, Lefty.
And it would work even better if everybody thought and acted that way, instead of too many having their heads so far up their arses that they are blinded to anything but their own personal wants.

BTW. It's equal greatest country on earth! :-)
