Do you have heavy duty bolt cutters or wrecking bar (or both) prepped in your BOB or emergency gear? I know that for some of you these are 'everyday' items, but some of us might not think of them until we need them.

I don't have either...but I do have quick access (15 min before or after SHTF) to oxy-acetylene torches...

I have both, but would really not want to have to take them anywhere. Kinda bulky and a pain to move around...

I'm with Christian for Israel (C4I?) on the light bolt cutters. Great for fence and small locks. I don't plan on prying open too many doors or windows, though. There are easier ways to get into a locked building should I need to. For instance, one could climb the fire escapes and get in through the roof. You could also simply break a window. With all the tempered safety glass "out there", it's a lot safer than it used to be.

C4I or CfI or whatever, if i recognize you're referring to me i'll respond.

the pry bar is good for things you'd use your knife on but don't want to risk your blade. i might use it to pry a nailed board up or pull fence staples in order to move the wires without cutting them (sometimes it's beneficial for others not to notice that you've been there). also remember that your BOB can help you out when the S hasn't HTF. i use mine all the time to get me through break downs, replace skipped meals, even mundane things like replacing items i've forgotten at home. the pry bar doesn't weigh much and is so useful i can't see NOT having it in the BOB.

I have a long (48") crow bar that I often use. I also bought a pair of bolt cutters, which I have yet to use, but wanted to buy before they became illegal.
I do that for many items.
