Erika went to a friend's b'day party last night, and it was a sleepover. "All you need is your own pillow", she was told.
Anyway, she returned home today tired, and just a little bone sore. She'd had to sleep on the floor, as there wasn't enough bedding. Not even a blanket. Needless to say it was more like sleepless on the floor. Mind you, she's a trooper, and didn't complain to anyone about it. BUT...
Guess who will be taking her BOB - complete with sleeping bag and SIAM - to every sleepover she attends from now on!? :D

I would seriously question the common sense of the parents that hosted the sleepover. Being told to bring pillow only would leave me with a safe assumption that bedding or sleeping bag would be provided.

I only sleep on the floor due to my back. So i see no problem here :D

Good to know though she will be taking provisions with her but also be aware of wacko parent that may think you are crazy for letting her take CARE OF HERSELF !!

Lesson learned?

Yeah, don't trust those parents or that child.

One of my sons did a sleep over last night, even brought his work clothes with him. He's almost 25. It's not a sorrid as that might read. I guess what they do is after their one day delayed St. Paddy's Day Party, it's sleep overs -people crash at the house so no one winds up drinking and driving.

the girl should always have her BOB with her. what if one of those willy whatever tornados had ripped the roof off the house? without her stuff she'd have been at the mercy of those around her.

CFI: ....."Willy whatever"..... :D
Apparently it's an Australian Aboriginal term for a small whirlwind.

Johnny, the girls' BOBs are described to their friends as being simply for camping. They know better than to talk to their friends too much about preparedness - well, at least to the point of talking about our household's preps. Firstly because they don't want to be considered fruit loops, and secondly because they understand the OPSEC angle: Don't want the hords of unwashed beating our door down when TSHTF.

Wino911 & Grimone, I'm going to find out more details of how the situation came about before I complain about the parents. Basically I think it was more likely a lack of communication between the girl whose party it was, and her parents. (That's based on the way our own kids can be so completely disorganised and uncommunicative at times. As parents, we are obviously expected to be aware of things like that, without the need to actually be informed, lol.)

As a parent I have to say, I am expected to do all, know all, and be all, including having the ability to produce the "I wants" out of thin air :D

Right in that boat with ya Bid!

"Goes with the territory", as is often said, PM. :D
I found out that the girl having the party had told all of her friends the same thing, (bring a pillow), but had not mentioned that little detail to her parents. Apparently, 6 girls slept on the floor without any bedding. Most kids simply laugh things like that off - though they do remember them - but unlike most other kids, Erika won't get caught out again: She's smart enough to do something about preventing something like that happening again.
