  • Recycle And Re-use
Recycle means to process old, used items in order that the material can be used to make new products. Examples of things that are often recycled are glass, plastic, newspapers, aluminum cans, used motor oil, and batteries. Here, reduce refers to lessening the amount of items or resources that are consumed, using only the amount that is needed, and looking for alternatives that will lessen our use. And reuse means extending the 'life' or repurposing an item rather than discarding or throwing it away.

Prepping = Creativity & Reality by AvonCTStyle on Wed May 09, 2012 9:21 am
Being short on cash isn't a reason not to prep.
Yeah having cash would be great to buy all the fun "prepping toys" or a huge 1 yr for our family in Freeze Dried/Dehydrated Foods...
But buying all the fun toys & fancy foods or even the dream kitchen helpers is on the wish list for now

So with us needing a decent running car
(got 2 cars that are in various degrees of needing repairs 1 not running 1 can be heard coming down the street)
Money is more than a bit tight at the moment
So how am I prepping when Hubby isn't on board & doesn't know much in the way of DIY?

Simply doing the buy 1 extra when it comes to the regular groceries & personal care items.
Buying things on sale with coupons is a great help but I've just not been able to get organized enough to be able to do like they do on tv.

I am of course specializing in the used stores
Trying to find items that are manual but the ever elusive used All American Pressure Canner just hasn't yet been found in my hunting....

Tip's,Trick's,and Trash Talk from a Redneck Trucker. by goinpostal on Sun Dec 11, 2011 1:54 am
Trucker's often find themselves without access to bathroom facilities.
Well here are some tips for making your own facilities to use in confined spaces that are fairly sanitary, inexpensive, and dont stink to high heaven like a standard port-a-potty.
I'll start with those that stand up to pee.
For multiple use before emptying any big jug that can be resealed will work, but after a few uses when the cap is cracked. The stench released from bottle can become over powering.
Well here's a trick I learned from using empty motor oil jugs.
The oil residue in the jug will float on top of the urine, and prevent it from outgassing so no sinky smell.
I've experimented a bit and found that pretty much any cooking oil will work in the same manner. So with any gallon jug you just add a 1/4cup of veggie oil and it's ready to use.
It can also be dumped in any toilet,RV dump,or even in the bushes somewhere, without undue damage to the environment.
Then the jug can either be rinsed and set up for reuse,or tossed...

New Addition by Bidadisndat on Fri May 21, 2010 10:25 pm
"Hey Shin, ya want a duck!?" the lady from next door screamed from the window of her 4 X 4 as she hurtled down my driveway. "I beg your pardon?" "Do you want a duck?" "Oh, a duck..... What sort of duck?" "I dunno.... just it's a white one. Friend of mine has a duck she wants to release in the park 'coz she can't keep it any more. I thought that was a bad idea so told her to wait while I checked with you." "Umm, the park is definately not a good idea. Yeh, OK, I'll take it." "K. I'll be back later", and the truck hurtled back out again. Well, the un-named duck turned out to be a black and white Muscovy, and is in the proccess of moulting. I put her in the pen where she scared the living daylights out of the chooks, who all took off and headed for our back porch. Talk about laugh! The dog, Rusty, was a bit wary too, though Bella the Boer made sure she didn't intrude on her...
