A small space in a back corner of our property has been used to build a Chook-Pen and Coop, and we have named this area "Cackleberry Corner".
Note: Chooks are what Aussies call chickens, and is also the sound used when calling them at feed o'clock. (Chook chook chook choo-ook.) Cackleberry is a slang term for an egg, and we thought this would probably be more acceptable for a name than using the alternative term of Bum-Nut. ![]() This view shows the pen, which measures 30' X 40', and the 10' X 10' coop to the left. Outside the fence of the pen a 2' wide length of heavy duty 1" mesh has been laid flat on the ground, attached to the bottom of the vertical fencing and covered with mulch. No need to bury the bottom of the fence when using this easy method to prevent foxes or dogs digging... [ Continued ]
