Trucker's often find themselves without access to bathroom facilities.
Well here are some tips for making your own facilities to use in confined spaces that are fairly sanitary,inexpensive,and dont stink to high heaven like a standard port-a-potty.
I'll start with those that stand up to pee.
For multiple use before emptying any big jug that can be resealed will work,but after a few uses when the cap is cracked.The stench released from bottle can become over powering.
Well here's a trick I learned from using empty motor oil jugs.
The oil residue in the jug will float on top of the urine,and prevent it from outgassing so no sinky smell.
I've experimented a bit and found that pretty much any cooking oil will work in the same manner.So with any gallon jug you just add a 1/4cup of veggie oil and it's ready to use.
It can also be dumped in any toilet,RV dump,or even in the bushes somewhere,without undue damage to the environment.
Then the jug can either be rinsed and set up for reuse,or tossed in the trash.
The next topic is for when a sit down approach is needed.
Most port-a-potties IMHO are a waste of money better spent elsewhere.They stink like hell,are messy to handle/dump,they can leak,and are just plain unsanitary in a closed space.
My solution is a 5gallon water keg(preferably an orange Gott with the screw on lid),double lined with 8gallon trash bags.
For the chemical additive,I use some stuff called"Oxy Chem"thats in the RV section at WalMart for under$8.
It comes in a plastic container,with 12 powder pkgs per container.You just tear a corner of the packet and dump half of it on the poo after each use.
In a pinch powdered washing detergent will work as well.
Now that your done,you can just screw the water keg lid back on.
When it comes time to dispose of the $#!Tty contents,I'll tie the inner bag closed.Then stuff it down in the outer bag and tie it closed as well.
I then find a dumpster to dispose of it in.
Before you say"oooh thats nasty",think of how many untreated diapers get tossed.
The Pro's of this method are It's fairly inexpensive,no smell,no leaks(even if turned over),easy to keep sanitized,easy waste disposal,and less chance of comming in contact with the contents.

[b]I want to tell you what I have been using for my porta- potty.. I had a real one.. but I gave it to a freind who needed one for their boat! So now I am camping,.. its cold out.. and sometimes.. on really long car rides, .. well ya gotta go! I use the containers that my chlorine tablets come in! Its small, thick white plastic and the lid screws on tightly! In my car, no one can see in because the windows are tinted very dark.. I go in the back of the van if ever stuck in bad traffic at the wrong time..and for camping.. it had worked out perfectly because it even has a nice handle.. I have so many of these buckets and was using them to start plants.. until I thought of this use..It may be TMI for some.. but anyhoo thats how I take care of business..
