The DIY Pickle-Barrel Compost Tumbler by Bidadisndat on Wed Apr 14, 2010 4:09 am
A Pickle Barrel Tumbler is very easy to put together, and will turn out finished compost just as quickly as units that are around $200 or so, but at a fraction of the price. I assembled one today and took a few photos to show how easily it can be done.
First, it's a good idea to assemble all the materials and tools required, as having everything at hand makes the job easier and faster. (Unfortunately this is something that I have been guilty of not doing many times before, and has often resulted in 30 minute projects taking up to 3 hours to complete.) In this case, not only did I have everything ready, I had also put fresh batteries in the 'old' camera that Chi said I could have, so here we go: ![]() The Pickle Barrel with its lid and securing band, and four aerated cement blocks on which the tumbler will be supported....
