My brothers are sheeple
by CalicoJack
I have two brothers. One is 2 years younger than me and is a veteran of the US Army Military Police corps like me. He has lost all of his fundamentals of shooting and firearms handling since he left the Army about 9 years ago. I can't say that I am suprised, he has not been much of a shooter since leaving the Army. I take him to the range once in a while and he shows a complete lack of understanding where his weapon system is concerned. I on the other hand shoot well and I think this intimidates him and causes him usually to abandon shooting handguns altogether and stick to the rifles, which are easier to shoot. I have told him that this is not a competition, and since I have left the Army I have lent my services as a hired gun, LEO, and conducted research involving weapon systems. In this light, naturally I will shoot well.
In addition to which he does not pay attention to current events. Not only does he not know that there is rioting in Greece, England, France, Ireland, and that they are shooting at each other in Haiti; When I tell him he seems skeptical of the information. I have stocked enough gear for both of my brothers along with an Ar-15 that I built myself for him that will shoot sub MOA out to 1100m, and a brand new Remmy 870 for my youngest brother with the Knoxx recoil reduction system. I have spare Tactical vests, ammo, food, medical supplies, and general gear for my family and a few neighbors.
My youngest brother who is 4 years younger than me does not believe that there will ever be a need for any of this gear. He thinks that this is all going to last forever, and if there does happen to be a hiccup someone will be there to take care of things. He has no military, LE, or civilian shooting experience but thinks he can "common sense" his way to successful self defense with any of my weapon systems. He surely does not believe that there is anything untoward going on until his gas prices rise.
All of this makes me wonder; Is there really any point to me spending extra money and time prepping for them? When the war drum beats it is too late to sharpen your sword. Given that this is true, when SHTF I will not have time to train them on any weapon systems and if I gave them guns I would essentially be handing weapons to rank amatuers. This prospect is tactically unsound to say the least, they would be more of a liability than anything. On the other hand if I don't prep for them they will be able to do nothing but consume in the end. If I sell their gear I can buy more food or silver or gear that I need to finish my preps. But then I will be the only one capable of providing any real security for my family, leaving me with nobody to watch my back in my circle of family and friends. Begging them to take this seriously has gotten me nowhere but pissed.
I just wanted to vent this, I know there must be tons of you guys out there feeling this every day. Sheeple are an aggravating crowd, even when they are your family.

I will always do my duty no matter what the price, I've counted up the cost, I know the sacrifice,
And I don't want to die for you but if dying's asked of me, I will bear that cross with honor, because freedom isn't free. ~ American Soldier
