Positive note on Surefire Batteries...they have substantial shelf life.
Quite a while ago I bought some cases of Surefire versions of the CR-123A's. These are a common battery for tactical lights, weapons lights, and night vision gear.
I didn't know they had an advertised shelf life of 10 years. I think I paid $15.00 or 18.00 for each case. I put them away. Well, they're now $22.00 a case, and it's years later, but they still work. So a case of SF batteries work well enough, in a case they're not too expensive, and they have long shelf lives.

I've got a case that I put into storeage over 5 years ago that is being used right now and I can't tell that there any weaker than the ones i have bought to replace them, I use these in both my flashlight and my night vision and on that note I keep all the used batteries from my flashlight and they still have eoungh juice to run the night vision with for a short while.

Just ordered 40 123s from allbattery.com for around $45 including shipping. From the specs, they look as good or better than the surefires at half the cost and made in USA. I'll let all know how they work out performance and storage wise.
